All Kinds of Organisms

Million kinds of organisms, or living things, exist on Earth. Living things can be found in oceans, forests, deserts, mountains, soil, air – almost everywhere on Earth. All organisms can be classified, or grouped, into five large groups called kingdoms. Organisms placed in the same kingdom share certain characteristics. The five kingdoms include Animal, Plant, Fungus, Protist, and Moneran.

Classification of Animals

All the organisms in the animal kingdom are classified into smaller groups within the animal kingdom based on different characteristics. Examples of these types of characteristics include how they move, get their food, and produce young.
