"Hands On, Minds On"

Lehrman Community Day School uses the Full Option Science System (FOSS) hands on science curriculum. The FOSS program engages students in hands on lab activities at least once a week. It provides students with inquiry based learning in order to promote scientific literacy and students achievement.

Development of critical thinking skills and reliance on actual data makes the FOSS Curriculum and extraordinary learning experience. Students construct science concepts through their own exploration and through the use of materials, students readings, and internet technology. The FOSS program also allows students to relate what they are learning in the classroom to everyday life.

FOSS is correlated to the National and State Science Education Standards.
