
Orientation-
Previous to the first day of school there is orientation for every grade. Parents and children are invited to Lehrman to see their classroom, put away materials, and meet their new teachers.
New Family Breakfast-
Our Parent Association hosts a meet, greet, and eat for all of our new families. This is a nice time to meet other parents new to Lehrman as well as an opportunity to speak with the school’s PA chairs and the administration.
Story Time-
Story Time is Lehrman’s way of giving back to the community. This free event, held monthly, is open to all children, age birth-4 years old, who are not (yet!?) enrolled and their parents. ECD teachers rotate hosting duties, reading to the children and providing a fun activity for the group.
Dinner in the Sukkah-
In celebration of the festival of Sukkot (booths) all Lehrman families are invited to come together and enjoy dinner in our beautiful school sukkah.
Book Fair-
Lehrman hosts a book fair each year. Students and their parents have the opportunity to purchase new books with a percentage of sales going to support the school. Parents are also asked to be guest readers in classrooms to reinforce the importance of books and reading to our students.
Passport to Learning-
This event is also known as “Back to School Night”. Parents are invited to travel through the halls of LCDS in order to see each of their child’s teachers and classrooms.
Holiday Bazaar-
Lehrman hosts an annual Holiday Bazaar. The best and most creative vendors come in to sell their products, clothing, and accessories here. A percentage of each sale goes to benefit our programs and ultimately our students.
Bring Your Friend to School Day (BYFTSD)-
Each fall students in Pre-K through 5th grade are encouraged to bring a friend to Lehrman to participate in the day’s activities and experience all the great things that are happening here.
Parent/Teacher Conferences-
Although a parent or teacher can request a conference at any time throughout the year there are set weeks for conferences. Parents can sign up for a conference time during that week to reflect on their child’s growth, review their work, and ask any questions.
Bring Your Parent to School Day (BYPTSD)-
Parents of students in Pre-K through 4th grade are encouraged to join us at Lehrman on to engage with your child and his/her teacher in the classroom setting, as well as to visit teachers in the coming years’ classes to see what is in store for their children.
Grandparents/ Special Persons Day-
All students at Lehrman are encouraged to bring someone special to school when we open our doors and our hearts for a day of activities and fun, as well as a delicious lunch.
Art Gallery-
For an entire week Lehrman’s are transformed into a museum of art. Every student has a piece of artwork displayed and students bring families and friends to see their masterpieces.
International Day-
Lehrman has a rich and diverse student and parent body. On International Day we celebrate that by hosting a day all about other cultures. Leading up to International Day students participate in games, taste various foods, and do presentations. Parent participation is a big part of what makes this event so successful.
Family Fun Day-
Lehrman has a Purim carnival each year. All Lehrman families are invited to join us for a barbeque, as well as games, rides, and more. This is a casual fun event that both parents and children always enjoy.
Musical Theater-
2nd through 5th graders are eligible to join Musical Theater as an after school activity. Children try out for roles, help with set and prop creations, assist with costume design, and have regular rehearsals. Past productions have included Annie, Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast.
Shabbaton-
3rd through 5th graders go on Lehrman’s annual Shabbat retreat to the Circle F Dude Ranch. The activity-filled three-day trip includes a talent show, horseback riding, and rock climbing; it culminates in a group Shabbat experience that is not to be forgotten.
Moving Up Ceremony-
Pre-K students have an end of the year celebration when Lehrman says goodbye to them as Early Childhood students and welcomes them into Kindergarten. Parents, families, and friends are invited to this end of the year ceremony.
Fifth Grade Graduation-
Lehrman 5th graders have a special graduation ceremony before leaving our school to go to Middle School. The children dressed in caps and gowns bid farewell to their beloved school at this moving ceremony. All parents, families, friends, are invited to this event.
